Disclosure & Barring Service
We are a Registered Body for Disclosure and Barring Service (previously known as Criminal Record Bureau) and can under take disclosure checks for other organisations and the general public.
A person is required to have a DBS check if he/she:
- will be working regularly with children or vulnerable people
- Will be working in an establishment that is wholly or mainly for children
- will be working in healthcare
- have applied to be a foster carer, adoptive parent or childminder
- be working in certain other professions (details of all these professions are provided on the link below)
Enhanced disclosure checks also include checks of the two barred lists currently in operation, one for children and one for vulnerable adults.
Standard checks contain all criminal convictions, cautions and reprimands held on the Police National Computer and are used for employees in certain positions of responsibility including positions regulated by the Financial Services Authority and the Security Industry Authority.
